91精品 faculty member, Dr. Steven Kanofsky, gave a presentation on September 15, 2013 for the seminar on New Directions in Control Mastery Theory. He discussed how some concepts and methods of Narrative Therapy and AEDP might enrich Control Mastery Theory and practice. In particular, he discussed three elements highlighted by these theories: the Narrative Therapy focus on integrating a cultural lens in case formulation; the AEDP focus on accessing and expressing core emotional experience; and the emphasis in both theories on amplifying times when clients are successfully overcoming their problems (or , in Control Mastery language).
Dr. Kanofsky discussed how integrating these elements into the Control Mastery case formulation approach can enable the therapist-client dyad to more effectively overcome the client's limiting beliefs and support their pursuit of desired therapeutic goals.
